ALONG THE GREEN PATCH OF PORTOROŽ WE SHALL WALK, TO EMBRACE SEČA AND AS TRUE SALTERN WORKERS TALK (experience for children from 6 to 12 years old)!

Saltpan workers will greet kids at the TPC in Lucija. Our gathering will last three hours and we will cover almost five kilometers. Together we will be learning about the cultural heritage of the 700-year-old tradition. Walking through the camp, we will stop for a short workout at the outdoor fitness in Cape Seča followed by a visit to the Forma Viva open-air exhibition of stone sculptures. Our path will lead us above the Seča saltpans and offer an amazing view. On our way, we will be equipped with the necessary tools for work at the saltpans and try out what it means to be a worker for a day. After that, we will return to where we started our journey. An old tale about a hand mill that makes the sea salty is the main thread of our adventure. Do your children already know the story?

Through entertaining games and activities, your child will experience the SALT TRADITION:

• admiring stone sculptures at Forma Viva,
• salt formation and its tradition,
• usage of saltern worker tools, clothes, and footwear,
• forming the best team of salt workers,
• learning about salt field heritage.

We have planned many fun TRADITIONAL games:

• creating a salt picture,
• game ‘ the sculptor and Sculptures’,
• game ‘ salt pan worker making her magic on stones’,
• hunt for salt worker tools,
• saltern competition,
• educational saltern quiz.
